About the role
As a Web Designer & Developer, you'll help improve GradIntent's existing website: finding what isn't working, redesigning it, building the improvements, and making sure the right people can find the site. GradIntent will set the goals. How you reach them is up to you. You might lean more towards design or more towards coding, and that's fine. You'll learn both sides as you go. You'll work directly with our founder, who reviews your work and gives feedback every week, and alongside other interns across social media, content, web and tech.
What you'll do
1. Review
- Go through GradIntent's current website and find what could be clearer, faster or easier to use
- Study how visitors use the site and where they get stuck
- Look at other education websites for ideas GradIntent can learn from
- Find out what students, families and schools search for online
2. Design
- Redesign pages that need improving
- Design mock-ups (a picture of how a page will look before it's built)
- Plan new pages only where they're needed
- Make every page clear and easy to use on phones and computers
3. Build
- Turn your designs into working improvements on the site
- Add features like forms, and the tools built by other interns
- Fix problems and make the site faster
4. Search visibility
- Improve page titles, headings and words so the site shows up when people search online
- Check which pages are found and which aren't, and fix what's missing
5. Testing and tracking
- Work on a practice copy of the website, so nothing breaks the live site
- Submit finished changes for GradIntent's approval. Every change is approved before it goes live.
- Track how many people visit and what they do on the site, and use the numbers to improve what's next
Throughout: work with other interns, including the AI Product Builders to add their tools to the website, the Content Writer to keep the blog and website working well together, and the social media team to bring visitors to the site.
What you'll deliver
