About the role
As a Digital Media Producer, you'll join a small team that creates and launches GradIntent's own original content from scratch. This is content that belongs to GradIntent: a show, a series, a newsletter, a guide, or something new your team comes up with. It can be made for all of GradIntent's channels, or for one specific channel. GradIntent will set the goals. How you reach them is up to you. Your team decides what to make and how to make it, and owns it from the first idea to the final piece. You'll work directly with our founder, who reviews your work and gives feedback every week, and alongside other interns across social media, content, web and tech.
What you'll do
1. Concept (with your team)
- Come up with ideas for original content that students, families, and schools and education leaders would want to follow
- Decide where it will live: across all GradIntent channels, or made for one channel
- Choose the format, name, audience and release plan
- Pitch your idea to GradIntent for approval before you start production
2. Research
- Study what students, families, and schools and education leaders watch, read and listen to, and what makes content worth following
- Look at existing education and career content to find gaps GradIntent can fill
- Research your topics and any people you want to feature
3. Content creation
- Plan each piece of content
- Write scripts, outlines, articles or interview questions, depending on your format
4. Content production
- Produce each piece: record, edit, write, or design, depending on your format
- Create visuals and artwork using GradIntent's brand kit
5. Planning and tracking
- Manage a release schedule from idea to draft, review and publishing
- Submit finished content for GradIntent's approval. Everything is approved before it's released.
- Share finished content with the social media team so they can promote it
- Track how many people watch, read or listen every week, and use the numbers to improve what's next
Throughout: work closely with your team and other interns. If your content is made for one channel, you'll work side by side with that channel's social media strategist. If it runs across channels, you'll coordinate with the whole social media team.
What you'll deliver
- GradIntent original content that you launched, with at least three published pieces, credited to you
- A production process and release plan that GradIntent can keep using after the program
