About the role
As a Content Writer for GradIntent's blog, you'll grow GradIntent's blog from start to finish: finding topics people are searching for, writing articles, making sure they show up in search results, and tracking how they perform. GradIntent will set the goals. How you reach them is up to you. This role isn't just about writing. You'll use real search data to decide what to write and how to help people find it. You'll work directly with our founder, who reviews your work and gives feedback every week, and alongside other interns across social media, content, web and tech.
What you'll do
1. Research
- Find out what students, families and schools are searching for online about careers, education and university
- Check search volumes (how many people search for a topic each month) to find topics worth writing about
- Look at other education blogs to find gaps GradIntent can fill
2. Planning
- Choose topics based on your research
- Plan a blog calendar showing what to write and when
- Choose the keywords (the words people type into search) each article should focus on
3. Content creation
- Write clear, useful articles that answer what readers are looking for
- Create or choose images and visuals using GradIntent's brand kit
4. Search optimisation
- Use your keywords in titles, headings and the article itself so it shows up in search results
- Link articles to each other and to other pages on GradIntent's website
- Improve older articles so they keep showing up
5. Publishing and tracking
- Submit finished articles for GradIntent's approval. Every article is approved before it's published.
- Track how many people find and read each article, and where they come from
- Use the numbers to decide what to write and improve next
Throughout: work with other interns, including the Web Designer & Developer to keep the blog and website working well together, and the social media team to share your articles.
What you'll deliver
- Published blog articles on GradIntent's website, credited to you, with real numbers showing how they performed
- A blog calendar and topic list that GradIntent can keep using after the program
