About the role
As an AI Product Builder, you'll design and build a free AI-powered tool that GradIntent offers to students, parents or schools, taking it from idea to working product. GradIntent will set the goals. How you reach them is up to you. You decide what to build, who it's for and how it works, and you own it from the first idea to launch. You'll work directly with our founder, who reviews your work and gives feedback every week, and alongside other interns across social media, content, web and tech.
What you'll do
Example tools
- For students: a resume feedback tool, an interview practice tool
- For parents: a tool that answers common questions about exams and university applications
- For schools: a career-readiness check, where a school answers a few questions about how it supports students' career planning and gets a short report with a score and suggestions
These are just ideas. You can propose your own.
1. Idea
- Choose who your tool is for: students, parents or schools
- Find a real problem it can solve for them
- Pitch your idea to GradIntent for approval before you start building
2. Research
- Talk to or survey the people your tool is for, such as your own teachers, classmates or family, or people arranged with GradIntent
- Look at similar tools to find gaps GradIntent can fill
- Decide what your tool must do, and what can wait
3. Design and build
- Plan how your tool will work, from what the user puts in to what they get back
- Build it using AI and other building tools, learning what you need as you go
- Keep users' information safe, and ask their permission before collecting anything
4. Testing
- Test your tool with real users, such as your own teachers, classmates or family, or people arranged with GradIntent
- Fix problems and improve it based on their feedback
5. Launch and tracking
- Submit your finished tool for GradIntent's approval. Every tool is approved before it goes live.
- Write a short guide on how to use it
- Track how many people use it and what they think, and use what you learn to improve it
Throughout: work with other interns, including the Web Designer & Developer to add your tool to GradIntent's website and the social media team to help people find it.
What you'll deliver
- A working tool, launched by GradIntent and credited to you
- A short user guide for your tool
- A final report on your work: your research, how you built it, how people used it and the results, which you can use in your university applications
